Curtis Lawson

Curtis Lawson (better known as ' Jet) from Houston Texas 2-11-34 who stood as a stand up comic for years writing jokes and performing in local bars. At 22 years of age drafted in the army and was station at Fort Mason in San Francisco. Lawson was release from the Army in 1958, In love with San Francisco and made it his home. Lawson been singing the Blues since 1958 in the Bay Area now I have put my own songs together in my own way " My Woman, My Girl, My Wife is a tune of mine I wrote over 30 years ago on track 3 for all these years I sung it only to my wife Linda so she said let the public here it I believe ever woman in the world should see how it fill to be in love. Living in San Francisco since 1960 it became a habit of mines singing the blues. "Ain't No Cure For The Blues because everyone know what ever you do "Somebody Got To Pay. Vesatility Lawson's universal appeal has thrilled crowds throughout the bay area and California as well as other States. Well traveled, Lawson was one of the first R & B band to play in South Lake Tahoe, playing in Aspen Colo. Lawson has performed as headliner in many Blues Festivals. Always a master showman and fine entertainer. Lawson dresses for the Spotlight, charming his audiences with colorful costumes and his' down home'warmed and humor. For two years he hsoted his own TV show on cable 25 in San Francisco entitled " The Curtis Lawson California Blues Show. Obviously, Curtis Lawson has been on stages in many capacities. As a headliner for Festivals: Sacramento Blues Festival, Sonoma County Blues Festival, California Blues Festival(In Golden Gate Park, Grass Valley Mari Festival, Nevada City(Band Reunion) Kona Hawaii as a guest with Azure Mc Call and Bonnie Pointer(one of the Pointer sisters at Hilton Waikoloa how there voices blended, Monterey Blues Festival (Lawson was one of the first bands in Monterey first two Blues Festivals in the 70's. He was also on the Monterey Blues Festival in 2008, but not with his own band Lawson sung two songs on the Festival and the peoples wanted more(all Lawson said 'I hope to see you all next year I will be with my own band said Lawson. Touring through Aspen, Telluride and Dever Colorado. And of course the many local clubs. Lawson was on shows with Artists & Musicians such as Albert King, Joe Hughes, Percy Mayfield, Sonny Rhodes, Drake Levin, Joe Lewis Walker, Elvin Bishops, Julian Vaught, Ted Wysinger, Billy Dunn, Jerry & Dale Whitmore, Carla Thomas, Mississippi Johnny' Water,Sonny Lane, Eugene Huggin, Little Joe Blue, Big Joe Turner, Fat Gainer and his 14 piece Orchestra where Lawson sung in most of the Hotels in San Francisco and made one album with Fat Gainer Orchestra " Today and Yesterday' in late 60's early 70's, Big Mama Thornton, John Lee Hooker, Charles Brown, Ray Sayre, Greg Gottelli, Ronnie Stewart, Clyde Hyde & the Hi-Tones, Clearance & Sweet Holland , Johnny Green, Pat Wilder , Johnny Preston and more.

Curtis Lawson who has been singing for 55 Years just celebrated his 50th Years of Singing the Blues in the Bay Area which was held at Africa America Art & Culture Complex, In San Francisco. Access SF. the City's Public access Television Station, & LaQuanta Music." A Night Of The Blues with Curtis Lawson and Friends. Zane Blaney, Executive Director of Access SF. Lawson was awarded Certificate Of Honor from Board Of Supervisors City and County of San Francisco. Lawson was Award male vocalist of the Year 2004 by the West Coast Blues Hall Of Fame Award.
